ABOUT UARDITO

I was born on a New York City subway train. Right after the train bore out of underground Manhattan and screamed above Brooklyn, you could see—I saw—the vast, beautiful and terrible capital of the world. Where people emote by the thousands and the tens of thousands, an incredible diversity within earshot at any moment, a constant cultural exploration and celebration and degradation, it was a place where every boy should become a man. And I became a man with them all.

I love getting to know new people. I don't think I've ever met someone who I thought was boring. People can't help it. Even the most ferociously tight-lipped are silently testifying about their call to silence. And I love how different two stories can be and still bring two people to the same place at the same time.

I hate that the day has only 24 hours, a week only seven days. I have never had a summer that fit between spring and fall, a weekend that fit properly in those two days. The greatest crime ever committed was sending a child to bed when the summer sun still lit the sky.

Criminal.

Fucking criminal.
